    About the role#

    Nature’s news team is looking for a science reporter for a full-time, paid internship running from January to June 2027. You will work from our Washington, DC or New York City offices on a hybrid schedule. Our newsroom operates independently and produces stories about science and science policy for an audience of researchers, administrators, and decision makers. As an intern, you will be treated like a staff reporter.

    What you'll do#

    • Cover science and activities at US science agencies.
    • Write stories for our website and print magazine.
    • Pitch your own stories as you become established in the role.
    • Write features in addition to your primary news coverage.
    • Travel locally to report on stories when necessary.

    What you'll need#

    • A university degree in a relevant subject.
    • A background in science is preferred.
    • Published science journalism articles or completion of a science writing or journalism program.
    • The ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
    • A commitment to contributing to an inclusive and collegial work environment.

    Location & details#

    • Locations: Washington, DC or New York, NY.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January to June).
    • Modality: Hybrid.
    • Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
