    About the role#

    Texas CASA is seeking a Communications Intern to support our efforts in strengthening awareness of our organization and the statewide CASA network. You will assist with content creation, digital and social media management, storytelling, and various projects that highlight the impact of our work. This role involves collaborating with staff across the organization to ensure effective communication.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage social media presence by developing, scheduling, and posting content while engaging with the community.
    • Create graphics and visual assets using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Research and develop story ideas that showcase the work of CASA volunteers and local programs.
    • Assist in the production and distribution of newsletters and email campaigns.
    • Monitor digital platforms for relevant trends, news, and conversation opportunities.
    • Track and report on the performance of social media and email marketing efforts.
    • Support photography and videography for organizational events and activities.
    • Maintain digital assets, media lists, and department resources.
    • Provide communications support to various departments and assist with special projects or initiatives.
    • Analyze current processes and suggest improvements to increase efficiency and quality.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, public affairs, or nonprofit management.
    • Proven experience in writing, editing, or communications through academic, professional, or volunteer work.
    • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills with a working knowledge of AP style.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
    • Experience with social media platforms and digital content creation.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to pass a background check.
    • Preferred: Experience with nonprofit, advocacy, or child welfare organizations and an understanding of the CASA model.
    • Preferred: Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, photography, videography, or graphic design.
