About the role#
ASME is seeking a Social Media Intern to join the Strategic Communications department. This is a paid, remote position with an expected commitment of 25-27 hours per week for a six-month term. You will support our digital presence by creating content and managing audience engagement across our social platforms.
What you'll do#
- Develop, schedule, and post content across platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Write copy that explains the ASME mission to our audience.
- Create graphics and videos that align with our brand.
- Monitor conversations and respond to comments or messages to foster community.
- Help cover live events, including webinars, conferences, and competitions.
- Assist in planning social media campaigns for our strategic initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in engineering, communications, marketing, journalism, media, or a related field.
- A portfolio that shows your experience creating social media content.
- Working knowledge of digital content, social media trends, and online culture.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Familiarity with social media or design tools such as Canva or Sprout is a plus.
Location & details#
- This role is remote.
- The hourly rate for the New York metro area is $20-$22 per hour.
- This is a part-time, six-month assignment.
