About the role#
Lambton Emergency Medical Services (LEMS) offers a Student-to-Practice Program for third and fourth-semester Paramedic students. This program provides hands-on clinical and operational experience under the mentorship of experienced Paramedics. Participants receive coaching, performance feedback, and access to continuing education. Placements occur on-site at various station locations. While this is an unpaid program, successful completion allows students to carry forward testing and interview scores for the Spring 2027 recruitment process.
What you'll do#
- Assess, interpret, and evaluate patient vital signs, symptoms, medical history, and incident details.
- Perform authorized medical interventions, including medication administration, CPR, and hemorrhage control.
- Collaborate with allied agencies to share and document patient and incident information.
- Receive and implement medical directives and treatment instructions from medical authorities.
- Maintain ambulance equipment and supplies to ensure adequate inventory levels and secure storage.
- Safely transfer and transport patients using approved movement equipment.
- Adhere to medication dispensing and controlled substance accountability procedures.
- Perform station and vehicle maintenance to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of the first three semesters of an accredited Paramedic Program and current enrollment in the fourth semester.
- Academic certification through the Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program (SWORBHP).
- Valid CPR Certification issued within the past 12 months.
- A current and complete immunization record meeting Ontario Ambulance Service Communicable Disease Standards.
- A Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the previous 90 days.
- Physical ability to meet the requirements of the position.
