About the role#
The Preconstruction Intern works with the Preconstruction Team to review, document, and deliver buildable plan sets that stay within established budgets. You will serve as a link between the Development and Construction teams, ensuring all plans meet project intent and are constructible. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Greenwood, Indiana.
What you'll do#
- Study project plans and perform on-screen takeoffs.
- Quantify materials and scopes of work.
- Assist with tracking plans throughout the project lifecycle.
- Help with subcontractor procurement and coordination.
- Use quantity takeoffs and past cost data to build initial budgets.
- Inspect plan sheets to ensure they meet Garrett Standards.
- Support the team with additional tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in construction, construction management, construction technology, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A positive attitude and a focus on problem-solving.
- Ability to anticipate needs and understand the difference between causation and correlation.
- Integrity in your work and a willingness to support the team at all levels.
