About the role#
Thomson Reuters Labs is looking for an Applied Scientist Intern to join our interdisciplinary team. You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting our core segments in legal, tax, accounting, government, and news. This role involves applied research and development to build data-driven solutions that serve our customers. The internship runs from January 11, 2027, to July 12, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the entire model development lifecycle, including building, testing, and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional, global team of experts.
- Contribute your own ideas while solving real-world challenges.
- Experiment with new approaches and learn new technologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program or a Master’s program with research experience.
- Experience with Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning methods, including Large Language Models.
- Proficiency in model training, fine-tuning, and evaluating experiments.
- Experience with one or more programming languages, preferably Python.
- Familiarity with ML/NLP libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, spaCy, LangChain, and HuggingFace.
- Ability to work with unstructured datasets and knowledge of data cleaning and processing techniques.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
