About the role#
This internship focuses on automating repetitive HR operational tasks. You will work with the HR team to build AI-powered tools that improve efficiency in areas like documentation, reporting, and communications. You will report to the Senior Director of IT and Incubation, with support from the Chief People Officer. This role requires you to design, prototype, and test functional solutions using approved enterprise AI tools.
What you'll do#
- Shadow HR team members to map current workflows and identify high-volume manual tasks.
- Rank tasks by their effort-to-impact ratio and define a build roadmap.
- Develop internal tools using approved instances of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, and other IT-approved software.
- Write, review, and test AI-produced code in an iterative cycle.
- Partner with an engineer for code reviews on tools intended for production.
- Work exclusively with synthetic or de-identified datasets to ensure data privacy.
- Provide regular progress updates to HR leadership and sponsors.
- Finalize tools with documentation so the HR team can maintain them independently.
What you'll need#
- Hands-on experience using generative AI tools to build software.
- Current enrollment in or completion of a degree in a technical field like Data Science or Computer Science.
- Ability to operate independently and own your progress.
- Sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience with workflow-automation tools like Power Automate or Zapier is a plus.

- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.
- Pay: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
