About the role#
As a Therapy Intern at UCAN, you will provide psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families, and groups in a community setting. You will work under the supervision of a licensed professional to support client needs and help reach treatment goals. This role may include providing counseling services in client homes.
What you'll do#
- Perform mental health assessments by interviewing clients and relevant contacts.
- Develop treatment goals based on client needs.
- Provide individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy.
- Collaborate with caseworkers, schools, courts, and other social service agencies to manage client care.
- Maintain case files, including written reports and case notes, within required timeframes.
- Attend team meetings, supervision, and agency training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2nd year Master program in Psychology, Sociology, or Public Health.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to special populations, including experience with the LGBTQ community.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Chicago, Illinois.
