About the role#
This is a 12-month, 20-hours-per-week graduate assistantship with the Research Development Office. You will support the team through data management, analytics, systems development, and process improvement. This role is intended for a graduate student who can work independently and collaboratively to strengthen the systems that support research programs and faculty funding.
What you'll do#
- Develop, maintain, and improve databases and other data systems.
- Create and maintain dashboards, automated reports, and analytical tools for program assessment and strategic planning.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and build automated workflows to reduce manual administrative work.
- Support the development, testing, and implementation of internal tools and resources.
- Assist the team in identifying, tracking, and communicating federal, state, foundation, and corporate funding opportunities.
- Provide backup programmatic and administrative support as needed.
What you'll need#
- Must be a registered graduate student in good standing at the University of Maryland.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and charts.
- Experience with Python for data processing, reporting, and workflow automation.
- Experience developing interactive dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio.
- Familiarity with SQL or similar database querying tools.
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
