About the role#
As an Embedded Software Engineer Intern at Vermeer, you will work on the software that powers our heavy equipment. This role provides hands-on experience with real-time control systems and offers mentorship to help you grow your engineering skills. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Write and test embedded software using C, C++, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Integrate and debug control systems using CAN protocols and tools like CANalyzer or Vector CANoe.
- Build Human-Machine Interfaces and contribute to UI/UX design using Qt or LabVIEW.
- Use Agile practices and DevOps workflows, including CI/CD with Git and GitHub.
- Support system validation and documentation through Product Lifecycle Management systems.
- Learn about functional safety standards like ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with embedded programming or control systems from projects or coursework.
- Familiarity with CAN protocols, HMI development, and Real-Time Operating Systems.
- An interest in robotics, automation, and software for intelligent machinery.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
