    About the role#

    This summer internship provides engineering support for the design, installation, and maintenance of buried piping infrastructure. You will work under the direction of the Engineering Department to assist with project planning, construction coordination, and technical documentation. This is a full-time, paid position based in Lenexa, Kansas, running for 12 weeks from May 17, 2027, to August 6, 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Create and review construction plans for buried piping infrastructure.
    • Assist project engineers with hydraulic calculations and design tasks.
    • Operate instruments for surveying, pressure, and flow measurements.
    • Support pressure monitoring and corrosion protection programs.
    • Coordinate contractor questions and assist with construction site management.
    • Investigate customer inquiries regarding water pressure and plumbing issues.
    • Prepare engineering sketches, drawings, and technical specifications.

    What you'll need#

    • Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
    • Commitment to the full 12-week program.
    • A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving standards.
    • Proficiency with computerized drafting instruments, particularly GIS.
    • Ability to work in both office and field environments, including exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
