About the role#
WaterOne is seeking a Facilities Engineering Intern to provide technical support to our Facilities Engineering staff. This role offers hands-on experience in the utilities industry, focusing on the design, inspection, and maintenance of production facilities. The position is a full-time, paid internship running from May 17, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist Project Engineers with the design and inspection of production and other facilities.
- Create detailed sketches and provide technical information for engineering drawings.
- Conduct research to help develop project cost estimates.
- Inspect construction work to ensure it meets accuracy and quality standards.
- Review manufacturer manuals and drawings for compliance with specifications.
- Operate surveying and measurement equipment as needed.
- Attend project meetings and prepare memos or specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering degree program.
- Completion of at least 15 credit hours in mathematics and engineering sciences.
- Sophomore status or higher in your degree program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CAD or GIS software.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background verification.
Location & details#
- Location: Lenexa, Kansas.
- Modality: This is an on-site position. You will work in both an office setting and at active construction sites or plant environments, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels.
