    About the role#

    The YMCA of Greater Houston offers a learning opportunity for high school students through our Co-Op Program. You will assist in providing childcare at after-school or preschool sites. Working under experienced staff, you will help create a safe environment for children while gaining hands-on experience in youth programming and professional workplace skills. This is a part-time, paid position.

    What you'll do#

    • Support curriculum within established guidelines for the participants.
    • Help distribute snacks during designated snack time.
    • Assist children with homework and quiet study activities.
    • Facilitate both formal and informal play indoors and outdoors.
    • Assist with set-up and breakdown of activity centers and cleaning of the program area.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be at least 17 years of age.
    • You must be a currently enrolled high school student in an approved co-op or career readiness program.
    • You are required to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training.
    • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting is preferred.
    • You must provide a current record of a tuberculosis examination or required immunizations.

    • This role is based in Humble, Texas.
    • The work is on-site.
    • This is a part-time position with rolling terms.
