About the role#
As a Mechatronics Intern at Yondu, you will work on humanoid robots in real deployments. This is a full time, on-site position based in Gardena, California for the Fall 2026 term. You will have the chance to own projects from start to finish while learning various prototyping methods.
What you'll do#
- Design and integrate electrical and mechanical systems.
- Work directly with humanoid robots in real-world deployments.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on designs to meet changing project demands.
- Collaborate with software and simulation teams to support their specific needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to commit to a full time internship.
- US citizenship or status that does not require immigration or visa assistance.
- Experience with electromechanical systems, robotics, and hands-on troubleshooting for electrical and mechanical hardware.
- Proficiency with Linux, specifically ROS 2, and computer assembly including USB and PCIE standards.
- Skills in CAD software like Fusion360 and KiCAD, as well as the .urdf format.
- Experience with humanoid components such as BLDC actuators, CANbus, and lithium batteries.
- Knowledge of industrial requirements like IP ratings and MTBF, with an ability to design for system reliability.
- Experience with hand tools, system disassembly, assembly, and technical documentation.
- A portfolio or independent projects that demonstrate your engineering skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Gardena, California (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Compensation: $4,000 - $6,000 per month.
- Benefits: A housing stipend is provided, though relocation assistance is not available.
