Our engineering and product innovation help keep soldiers and firefighters safe, is critical in building and keeping communities clean and helps people do their jobs every day.THE ROLEAs an AI Engineer Intern in Summer 2027, you will contribute to the development and deployment of artificial intelligence and intelligent software solutions across Oshkosh’s engineering and product platforms.Depending on your experience, interests, and project assignment, you may work in areas such as machine learning, computer vision, edge AI, embedded systems, vehicle intelligence, connectivity, or software-defined vehicle technologies. You’ll collaborate with engineering and technology teams to develop, test, and integrate intelligent solutions into real-world products and applications.YOUR IMPACTAs an AI Engineer Intern, your responsibilities may include:Designing, training, evaluating, and deploying machine learning and AI models on GPU servers, cloud platforms, or edge devicesProcessing and analyzing structured and unstructured datasets, including imagery and sensor dataDeveloping data pipelines and model deployment workflows from cloud to edgeIntegrating AI/ML models into applications, embedded systems, electronic control units (ECUs), or vehicle platformsAssisting in the development of software modules supporting vehicle intelligence, connectivity, automation, and advanced featuresTesting embedded and AI-enabled applications across hardware, vehicle networks, and software environmentsUsing simulation environments and testing frameworks to validate algorithms, models, and system functionalityConducting experiments and benchmarking algorithms for performance, accuracy, and efficiencySupporting software integration, over-the-air (OTA) capabilities, and vehicle software lifecycle activitiesParticipating in code reviews, technical discussions, system architecture development, and innovation activitiesDocumenting system designs, test procedures, model behavior, performance metrics, and experimental resultsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical fieldCoursework or experience in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, embedded systems, software development, or statisticsProgramming experience with Python, C++, or other relevant programming or scripting languagesFamiliarity with Linux environmentsInterest in applying AI and software technologies to real-world engineering and product challengesWillingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the summer internship(Housing provided for interns living more than 50 miles from the work location)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience or exposure to one or more of the following is a plus:Machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learnComputer vision and image processingGPU or NPU computingEdge AI and model optimization/deploymentEmbedded software and embedded computing platformsVehicle communication technologies such as CANAUTOSAR or automotive software architecturesVehicle connectivity and software-defined vehicle conceptsCloud-to-edge architectures and data pipelinesSimulation, testing, or automated validation frameworksPay Range: $18.00 - $37.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
