About the role#
As an AI Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience developing AI-powered solutions for VFS North America. You will work alongside experienced engineers, developers, and technology professionals to explore how artificial intelligence and Generative AI apply to an enterprise environment. This role involves the full lifecycle of AI development, from early experimentation and prototyping to testing and deployment.
What you'll do#
- Analyze datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities that support business decision-making.
- Design, develop, and prototype AI and Generative AI solutions to address business problems.
- Work with stakeholders and technical teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Test and evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness.
- Develop supporting applications, integrations, scripts, and utilities using languages such as Python, C#, or JavaScript.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for AI solutions, including workflows, prompts, and evaluation results.
- Participate in a collaborative, iterative development environment.
- Present project updates, findings, and completed solutions to technical leadership.
- Explore emerging AI technologies and development practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
- Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
- Hands-on experience with AI technologies through coursework, personal projects, research, hackathons, or previous internships.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript.
- Understanding of the importance of writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Location & details#
- Location: Greensboro, North Carolina.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: This is an on-site internship, with occasional work-from-home flexibility available with leader approval.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with an hourly range of $17.00 to $46.00, depending on factors including academic classification and degree program.
