About the role#
The Maintenance Engineering Tooling Intern will support the manufacturing of class 8 heavy-duty trucks at the Volvo Group facility in Macungie, Pennsylvania. This is a paid, on-site internship for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Investigate and document tooling solutions including fastening tools, lifting solutions, and automation.
- Collaborate with production teams to develop new assembly tools and equipment.
- Design assembly tools using CREO or CATIA and create assembly drawings.
- Use kaizen methods to improve safety, ergonomics, quality, and efficiency.
- Assist in developing web-based systems for inventory management of equipment and spare parts.
- Support competence development and create standard practices for tooling integration.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
- Must be a Junior or Senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- Remain fully enrolled in your program throughout the internship.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and PowerBI.
- Experience with Catia v5, Creo, or interpreting engineering drawings is a plus.
