About the role#
Saab is hiring a Mechanical Engineer Co-Op for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time position based on-site in East Syracuse, New York. You will gain hands-on experience in hardware development and product design within the defense and security industry.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to hardware development for Radar systems.
- Work alongside senior engineers to design and develop models and drawings.
- Assist in creating thermal and structural analysis reports.
- Attend internal technical meetings and design reviews.
- Coordinate with your mechanical lead to plan and schedule your daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Mechanical Engineering degree program or a related discipline.
- Completion of your Sophomore year or higher by the start date.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
- Familiarity with Solidworks is desired, and prior Co-Op experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: East Syracuse, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May to August).
- Employment type: Full time, on-site.
- Compensation: $20.27 to $22.30 per hour, plus a sign-on bonus for those living outside the commuting area.
- Note: Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
