About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience designing and building space hardware and software. You will contribute to the systems needed to operate human-rated space stations and related infrastructure. Interns work with mentors to solve engineering problems across various hiring teams.
What you'll do#
- Design and build space hardware and software.
- Develop systems for the operation of human-rated space stations and infrastructure.
- Solve real-world engineering problems across different teams.
- Work in areas including ECLSS, propulsion, solar, structures, and thermal analysis or testing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation.
- Ability to apply technical skills outside of the classroom through projects, research, or prior work.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of engineering and equipment.
- Familiarity with analysis tools.
- Ability to collaborate with different teams.
- A self-directed approach and team spirit.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, 12-week internship.
- Work is on-site at our facilities in Long Beach, Hawthorne, or Mojave, California.
- Candidates must be a U.S. person as defined by U.S. export control regulations.
