About the role#
As a year-round Cybersecurity Intern, you will help protect Oshkosh Corporation’s information, systems, and technology. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside cybersecurity professionals in areas such as incident response, cyber defense engineering, and security infrastructure. This role provides exposure to both the technical and operational sides of cybersecurity within a global organization.
What you'll do#
- Investigate phishing emails, malware, security alerts, and other cybersecurity events.
- Support the administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of security applications and infrastructure.
- Participate in the patching, deployment, and upgrades of security applications and agents.
- Maintain and upgrade malware lab environments and cybersecurity tools.
- Assist with the development and management of honeypots and other defensive security capabilities.
- Support security logging across the enterprise, including troubleshooting and updating logs.
- Analyze security metrics to develop reports and briefings on cybersecurity activity.
- Create cybersecurity awareness and outreach communications.
- Collaborate with technology vendors and internal teams to resolve issues.
- Document technical processes and project details to support continuous improvement.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A strong interest in pursuing a career in cybersecurity, incident response, or security engineering.
- Previous experience through coursework, labs, clubs, competitions, or employment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
- Attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, year-round internship based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
- You must have reliable transportation to travel between local Oshkosh facilities and data centers as needed.
- You must be able to lift up to 25 pounds when supporting infrastructure activities.
