    About the role#

    Zipline is looking for interns to join the Embedded Systems team to advance our autonomous aircraft and ground systems. You will work alongside cross-functional partners to solve complex engineering problems. This role involves taking ownership of technical projects, from defining system requirements to testing and validating solutions for real-world deployment.

    What you'll do#

    • Define system requirements and develop simple, creative solutions for embedded applications.
    • Develop firmware for real-time coprocessors and manage high-frequency signals.
    • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to prototype and test flight and ground systems.
    • Develop, test, and deploy software for autonomous aircraft and ground systems.
    • Use data analysis tools to verify system performance and identify the root cause of failures.

    What you'll need#

    • Completed at least the second year of undergraduate studies.
    • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
    • Experience designing, building, or deploying electromechanical systems or robots.
    • Proficiency in C, C++, Python, or Rust.
    • Experience developing software for a real-time operating system or embedded Linux.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, on-site internship based in South San Francisco, California.
    • The term for this position is Summer 2027.
