    About the role#

    As a System Test Automation Intern, you will join the System Validation Team to ensure the performance, reliability, and safety of our integrated systems. You will contribute to testing and validating the Zip, Droid, and Dock components. This role involves building and refining automated testing pipelines to verify software quality before flight deployment.

    What you'll do#

    • Execute Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and flight tests to validate system interactions.
    • Collaborate with engineers from various teams to build and refine automated testing pipelines.
    • Design and improve tools that stress-test the system in off-nominal cases.
    • Analyze and troubleshoot hardware and software issues identified during testing.
    • Develop and enhance scripts and tools to support automated testing workflows.

    What you'll need#

    • Completed second year of undergraduate studies (Master's and PhD students are also eligible).
    • Experience writing Rust or Python scripts.
    • Hands-on experience writing Python tests using tools like Pytest or Unittest.
    • General understanding of electrical systems, including motors, sensors, and onboard computers.
    • Experience working in a Linux environment.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in South San Francisco, California.
    • The term runs from January to April 2027.
