About the role#
As a Software Engineering Co-op, you will work on big data projects and contribute to the Acceldata Open Data Platform. You will design, build, and scale components while learning from experienced engineers. This is a 4-month assignment based in Kitchener, Ontario.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the engineering team to write, test, and deploy software using Java or Scala.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis to maintenance.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and share knowledge.
- Stay updated on open-source project advancements and contribute to the community when needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field at the University of Waterloo.
- Programming skills in Java, Scala, or Python.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, managing, and scaling applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
