About the role#
Adaptyv builds automated labs that allow AI agents to run biology experiments. We are looking for a Protein Design Intern to help bridge the gap between computational design and physical lab results. You will work on real targets, using our infrastructure to test and iterate on protein designs.
What you'll do#
- Benchmark open-source protein design methods against experimental data from our wet lab.
- Design binders for internal R&D projects while tracking performance metrics like hit rates, kinetics, and developability.
- Develop computational tools for structure prediction, filtering, and ranking to prepare design pools for synthesis.
- Assist with our open competitions and hackathons by drafting briefs, judging submissions, and summarizing results.
- Create content for Proteinbase, including open data, blog posts, and method comparisons.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Master's, PhD, or final-year undergraduate program in fields like computational biology, machine learning, biochemistry, or bioengineering.
- Practical experience with at least one modern open-source protein design method.
- Proficiency in Python and PyTorch, along with experience handling biology data formats.
- A solid understanding of binding kinetics and developability that goes beyond computational metrics.
- Bonus points for prior open-source contributions, competition placements, or published technical work.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a duration of 3 to 6 months.
- We accept applications on a rolling basis.
- The role is available remotely or on-site in Lausanne, Switzerland. On-site work is preferred for those who want direct exposure to our lab operations.
