About the role#
This temporary internship offers hands-on exposure to the Emergency Medicine Department. It is designed for college graduates in a gap year who are considering a career as a physician, physician assistant, or other medical professional. You will work directly alongside doctors and nurses to assess and enroll patients in clinical trials. This role is part-time and runs through the end of 2026.
What you'll do#
- Work across clinical care areas, office settings, and laboratory environments.
- Screen potential research subjects and obtain informed consent under the supervision of the Research Coordinator or Investigator.
- Collect and process human specimens.
- Perform database abstraction from medical records.
- Maintain research records and communicate study activities to the team.
- Provide administrative coverage, including data entry, filing, and document creation.
What you'll need#
- A college degree is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Capability to perform physical tasks such as walking, sitting, lifting up to 10 pounds, and pushing patients in wheelchairs.
