    About the role#

    This temporary internship offers hands-on exposure to the Emergency Medicine Department. It is designed for college graduates in a gap year who are considering a career as a physician, physician assistant, or other medical professional. You will work directly alongside doctors and nurses to assess and enroll patients in clinical trials. This role is part-time and runs through the end of 2026.

    What you'll do#

    • Work across clinical care areas, office settings, and laboratory environments.
    • Screen potential research subjects and obtain informed consent under the supervision of the Research Coordinator or Investigator.
    • Collect and process human specimens.
    • Perform database abstraction from medical records.
    • Maintain research records and communicate study activities to the team.
    • Provide administrative coverage, including data entry, filing, and document creation.

    What you'll need#

    • A college degree is strongly preferred.
    • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Proficiency with computers.
    • Capability to perform physical tasks such as walking, sitting, lifting up to 10 pounds, and pushing patients in wheelchairs.

    • Location: Charlotte, North Carolina.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $18.85 - $28.30 per hour.
    • Status: Part-time, temporary.
