About the role#
Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant Intern to join the Research and Development team in Burlington, North Carolina. This role supports the DNA Identification testing division, which focuses on Hematopoietic Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Transplantation services. You will contribute to the development and operational implementation of assays used for donor registry submissions, pre-transplantation workups, and post-transplant monitoring.
What you'll do#
- Learn the clinical testing processes and development workflows.
- Gain experience with industry techniques related to Next Generation Sequencing.
- Serve as a development lead for a genetic transplant assay.
- Maintain thorough and accurate experiment notes or lab notebooks.
- Use Microsoft Excel to perform complex biological data analysis.
- Participate in training sessions and apply new skills to your daily work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biomedical Sciences.
- 3-6 months of experience in cell or molecular biology-based laboratory classes.
- 3-6 months of knowledge or experience with Next Generation Sequencing technologies.
- At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to follow specific laboratory procedures.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in laboratory science and clinical testing.

- Location: Burlington, North Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027, to August 13, 2027).
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: Paid internship.
- Note: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
