About the role#
This co-op position is based in Warsaw, Indiana, with DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction. You will support the design, development, and manufacturing of orthopaedic medical device implants and instruments. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Observe operations at the manufacturing facility and complete on-site training.
- Learn about orthopaedic materials, chemical processing, and heat treating.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, scientists, and engineers.
- Design and develop research studies for new materials and technologies.
- Characterize materials and evaluate processes for current and new products.
- Develop new test methods or equipment and perform failure analyses.
- Provide technical assistance on materials and processing matters.
- Prepare technical reports and deliver oral presentations to staff.
- Conduct independent materials engineering research as you progress.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university for the Spring 2027 term.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Completion of your sophomore year by the start of the rotation.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
- A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is preferred.
- Experience with undergraduate lab research is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership or participation in campus and community service is preferred.
