About the role#
As an Operational Excellence Lean Intern, you will support the Colorado Springs plant through Lean transformation and daily management initiatives. You will work directly with plant operations and corporate leadership on projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, and inventory. This role is a full-time position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support continuous improvement projects by collecting data, observing processes, and implementing lean deliverables.
- Drive Operational Excellence culture change by coaching employees and leaders on Lean behaviors.
- Collaborate with the value stream team as a Lean Specialist to support operational design and process improvements.
- Participate in and direct Gemba Walks while educating others on takt time attainment and Lean methodologies.
- Implement and maintain visual performance tools.
- Shadow floor operators, supervisors, and management to build rapport and observe process steps.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program for Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Strong willingness to learn, curiosity about processes, and openness to hands-on shop floor experience.
- Effective time management, listening, communication, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Visio, and project management tools is preferred.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher and previous work experience are preferred.
