About the role#
Amentum is seeking a Software Programmer Intern to join the Advanced Solutions team in Tullahoma, Tennessee. This role supports complex research, scientific, and test facility projects. You will work alongside engineers and programmers to deliver software solutions for data acquisition and control systems. This position offers exposure to large-scale engineering initiatives, including U.S. Navy test facility projects and the development of the Test SLATE platform.
What you'll do#
- Develop and test software modules for data acquisition and control systems using LabVIEW, C#, and .NET.
- Integrate hardware and software for real-time data acquisition platforms such as National Instruments PXI and cRIO.
- Contribute to relational database management system (RDBMS) development, including schema design, query optimization, and data integration using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Collaborate on system architecture design by applying object-oriented principles and design patterns.
- Contribute to code reviews and version control workflows to maintain code quality.
- Document software features and testing procedures for internal and client use.
- Participate in the testing and troubleshooting of complex systems.
- Support field deployment and commissioning of software solutions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with a concentration in software development.
- Strong foundation in software development fundamentals.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns.
- Experience or knowledge of version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship based in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
- The role is part-time with a rolling term.
- Interns are responsible for their own housing arrangements.
