About the role#
Amentum is seeking a Software Programmer Intern to join our Advanced Solutions team in Detroit. You will support projects ranging from small studies to large-scale, turn-key supply efforts. This role offers exposure to diverse engineering disciplines, including work on U.S. Navy test facilities and our flagship SCADA platform, Test SLATE. You will work alongside experienced programmers and engineers to deliver software solutions for aerospace, defense, and automotive testing environments.
What you'll do#
- Develop and test software modules for data acquisition and control systems using LabVIEW, C#, and .NET.
- Integrate hardware and software for real-time data acquisition platforms, such as National Instruments PXI and cRIO.
- Contribute to relational database management system development, including schema design and query optimization using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Collaborate on system architecture design by applying object-oriented principles and design patterns.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain version control workflows.
- Document software features and testing procedures for internal and client use.
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Support field deployment and commissioning of software solutions across various operational environments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering at an ABET-accredited institution.
- A strong foundation in software development fundamentals.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns, version control (Git), and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- US Citizenship is required.

- This position is located in Detroit, Michigan.
- This is an on-site, part-time internship with a rolling term.
