About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work within the Controllership function of the American Express Finance organization. You will gain experience in financial operations while contributing to the team's core accounting activities.
What you'll do#
- Complete a project that solves a real business challenge for the organization.
- Assist with monthly general ledger close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Help produce and review monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Perform variance analysis and analytical procedures for assigned general ledger accounts.
- Partner with subject matter experts to support Controllership accounting activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or Economics.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data, spot trends, and generate insights.
- Skill in synthesizing data into clear stories to articulate messages across various audiences.
- A positive, adaptable, and motivated approach to work.
- Employment eligibility to work in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not provided for this role.
