About the role#
As a summer intern with the Internal Audit Group, you will gain hands-on experience by working on operational audit projects. You will learn to identify and evaluate risks, business process controls, and technology controls across the organization while gaining a deeper understanding of the American Express business model.
What you'll do#
- Serve as a key team member on operational audit projects by evaluating risk and documenting processes.
- Implement audit tests and detail results in accordance with internal methodology, policies, and procedures.
- Research and learn about specific audit entities.
- Deploy critical thinking to assess potential business impacts and use evidence to support risk and control conclusions.
- Support senior auditors by collaborating in a team environment, attending walkthroughs, and detailing work papers.
- Partner with audit teams and management to develop control tests and analyze results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Pursuit of a degree in accounting, finance, information systems, data analytics, or an information technology related field.
- Employment eligibility to work in the United States, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Sandy, Utah.
