About the role#
This internship provides accounting, business systems, and financial reporting support to scientists, engineers, and organizations across the laboratory. You will work within a team focused on transparency and collaboration while assisting with payments to employees and suppliers, as well as the allocation of funding and costs to various projects.
What you'll do#
- Monitor laboratory expenses and revenues using the Workday enterprise reporting platform.
- Use Microsoft Excel to conduct cost analysis and financial reconciliation.
- Collect and develop process documentation using standard templates in Microsoft Word.
- Collaborate with financial professionals to resolve laboratory financial issues.
- Assist with audit support, track communications, and manage the transition to paperless record retention.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship.
- Current full-time enrollment at an accredited institution, with at least one semester completed.
- Completion of two years of undergraduate academics in a business program.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- A desire to learn about accounting, business administration, economics, finance, or management information systems.
- Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations and manage competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time the appointment begins.
- Ability to pass a screening drug test and background check.

- This position is based in Lemont, Illinois, with remote options available.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Employment is contingent upon obtaining government access authorization.
