About the role#
As a Software Developer Intern, you will join the IT and ETRM System Development team at Axpo US. You will work alongside traders, quants, and tech colleagues to build and support systems that power energy trading. This role focuses on the Beacon ETRM system and involves close collaboration with various departments to turn business needs into technical solutions.
What you'll do#
- Develop, extend, and support the Beacon ETRM system, including market data tools, risk monitoring, and confirms processing.
- Maintain and improve interfaces with third-party systems like exchange feeds, risk and credit platforms, and regulatory reporting tools.
- Support technology needs for front, middle, and back office operations, such as invoicing, inventory management, and end-of-day batch processes.
- Contribute to deal life-cycling, reconciliation, and data integrity checks.
- Write and maintain unit tests to ensure software quality.
- Collaborate with Trading, Quant, Risk, Operations, Finance, and Legal teams.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Python or another modern object-oriented programming language.
- Strong communication skills and an interest in working across different functions.
- Analytical mindset with creative problem-solving abilities.
- Exposure to the commodities or energy trading industry is a plus.

- Location: Houston, Texas.
- Workload: 50 percent.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: 30 to 35 USD per hour, based on skills and experience.
- Term: Rolling.
