About the role#
The New Nurse Experience is a full-time residency program designed to help new graduates transition into professional nursing. You will work in a collaborative environment to refine your clinical skills and build professional relationships. This program includes clinical mentoring, simulation training, and hands-on experience with equipment and electronic health records. Most nurses work three 12-hour shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations.
What you'll do#
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and educational needs.
- Formulate and implement care plans in collaboration with the health care team.
- Coordinate, delegate, and supervise patient care activities.
- Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching.
- Document all assessments and interventions in the patient record.
- Provide care based on current evidence and participate in unit shared leadership.
- Communicate with staff, physicians, patients, and families regarding patient health.
What you'll need#
- Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current valid RN license, temporary/interim license, or compact RN licensure in the state of practice.
- Current BLS card or the ability to obtain one before your start date.
- No more than 12 months of prior RN experience.
- BSN is preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical area is desired.

This is a full-time, paid position with benefits. Placements are available at various Banner Health facilities across Arizona, including locations in Phoenix, Mesa, Tucson, Payson, Casa Grande, Sun City West, Glendale, San Tan Valley, Gilbert, and Queen Creek. This posting is specifically for current Banner Health nurse externs or students who have completed the Summer 2026 student transition to practice program and received a placement letter.
