About the role#
This internship focuses on transportation projects. You will work in a collaborative environment to gain practical experience across various project phases. You will learn about the processes and values that guide our employee-owned firm while working alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do#
- Receive on-the-job training for engineering activities and general procedures.
- Assist with drafting, plan development, and basic engineering design calculations.
- Perform routine tasks to become familiar with engineering methods and programs.
- Learn about survey activities, including the operation of GPS and conventional equipment.
- Observe construction processes and field tests, such as materials testing.
- Conduct in-office planning and design work, as well as out-of-office field investigations and site visits.
- Collaborate with internal teams like landscape architects, surveyors, and technicians, and interact with external clients and contractors.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a technical school or a bachelor's degree program in Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Environmental Engineering, with at least one year completed.
- 0-6 months of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and basic math skills.
- Familiarity with CAD software, survey software, or Trimble Business Center is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and show initiative.
- Capacity to interpret plans and specifications.
- Commitment to safety and the ability to pass required safety training.

- Travel: Approximately 10% travel may be required for field work or business meetings, using a company or personal vehicle. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record may be required.
