    About the role#

    The Security Incident Response Team at BlackBerry works to ensure the software integrity and resilience of our products. We are looking for a student to join our team to help respond to software-based cyber threats. You will work alongside various teams to identify, analyze, and mitigate vulnerabilities.

    What you'll do#

    • Build systems and workflows to scale our security efforts.
    • Use agentic tools to find, assess, and suggest fixes for software vulnerabilities.
    • Triage vulnerabilities and evaluate risk using metrics like CVSS.
    • Coordinate response activities and drive the remediation of issues.
    • Deepen your security knowledge to help protect our customers.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a post-secondary degree or diploma program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • Programming and debugging experience with Python.
    • Experience using agentic coding assistants.
    • Ability to analyze code behavior and manage multiple parallel tasks.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Analytical skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Knowledge of secure software development lifecycles, application security, and common vulnerability classes.
    • Skills in reverse engineering and creating proof of concept exploits.
    • Familiarity with cryptography, including hashes, SSL/TLS, and public key systems.

    • Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Employment Type: Full-time.
    • Term: Rolling 8-month contract.
