About the role#
This internship supports Change Management projects and tasks for the broader business group. You will work with a team to build components for reporting and translate business needs into technical specifications. This role requires a blend of technical skills and a business mindset. You will work mostly independently to identify, diagnose, and solve problems while applying the BMO Risk Management Framework.
What you'll do#
- Document information, interpret requirements, and map data flows or systems.
- Partner with various teams and senior leaders to articulate business cases.
- Design and build reporting dashboards using data extraction, cleaning, and visualization techniques.
- Identify trends and patterns to provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate with analytics professionals to optimize, automate, and scale analysis.
- Select and configure analytics solutions for consistency.
- Research and apply continuous improvement to data visualization.
- Develop tools and training programs for self-serve analytics users.
- Enhance the usability and aesthetic appeal of deployed analytics solutions.
What you'll need#
- A post-secondary degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with data management, extraction, and mining.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to perform data storytelling and insights design.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Foundational proficiency in technical design optimization and systems thinking.
- Power BI experience is considered an asset.
