About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Mercury Marine, you will join an engineering team focused on the design, production, and manufacturing of outboard and sterndrive motors. You will work both independently and collaboratively with experienced professionals to manage assigned projects from inception to completion. This position provides hands-on experience in a professional setting where you will apply your academic knowledge to real-world engineering tasks.
What you'll do#
- Support the mechanical design of various engine systems and components.
- Assist with validation test plans and testing procedures.
- Interface with cross-functional teams within Mercury to solve problems.
- Gain experience in dimensional stack-up, data analysis, hardware management, and failure investigations.
- Utilize CAD software, specifically Creo, to support product design.
- Consult with internal departments, suppliers, and customers.
- Document and authenticate testing results through technical report writing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with at least 48 completed credits.
- Ability to enroll in a formalized co-op program through your university.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and creative problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A dependable, self-motivated approach to learning.
Location & details#
- Location: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May to August).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time (40 or more hours per week).
- Compensation: Paid internship with an hourly rate range of $18.00 to $27.50, depending on qualifications and business needs.
