About the role#
This summer internship offers a 10-12 week program at our processing plant in Mount Olive, North Carolina. You will work alongside our Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) and Operations teams to ensure our production processes meet customer expectations and USDA regulations. This role provides hands-on experience and professional development within the food manufacturing industry.
What you'll do#
- Validate the efficacy of antimicrobial interventions.
- Collect data, trend quality metrics, and communicate findings to the team.
- Collaborate with FSQA and Operations staff to coordinate sample collection.
- Work with laboratory personnel to learn sampling and analysis processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality parameters.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure they remain consistent, compliant, and follow good manufacturing practices (GMP).
- Record and report findings as part of your daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Safety, biological sciences, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, Word, Visio, Teams, Power BI, and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated ability to use Excel formulas to organize and report data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including cold, hot, and wet areas.
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
- Active participation in campus or community organizations is preferred.
