About the role#
The Raw Material Test Engineer intern supports material research, testing, and characterization. You will focus on understanding material performance, degradation mechanisms, and product reliability. This role applies engineering principles, Design of Experiments (DOE), and statistical analysis to evaluate materials and provide data-driven recommendations. You will work alongside Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to support material selection, supplier qualification, and root-cause investigations.
What you'll do#
- Design and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to evaluate raw material performance, variability, and aging behavior.
- Perform laboratory testing and characterization of raw materials such as polymers, sealants, metals, glass, and coatings.
- Operate laboratory equipment and testing instrumentation while following safety requirements.
- Analyze experimental data using statistical methods to identify trends and failure mechanisms.
- Translate findings into technical reports, data summaries, and actionable recommendations.
- Develop, validate, and standardize laboratory test methods and experimental protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support material qualification and manufacturing concerns.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of material characterization, experimental methods, and laboratory testing.
- Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical data analysis concepts.
- Ability to independently manage laboratory testing and engineering assignments.
- Experience with polymers, sealants, coatings, glass, or metals is preferred.
Location & details#
