    About the role#

    This is a part-time, paid internship supporting a research initiative on the genetic basis of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). You will work under the guidance of Dr. Evan Kransdorf and the CalHeart team. The project focuses on generating induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from patients with various DCM genotypes. You will gain hands-on experience in clinical research and exposure to biomanufacturing methodologies.

    What you'll do#

    • Identify and recruit participants for the DCM genetics study.
    • Collect and manage research data.
    • Prepare regulatory submissions and handle administrative study tasks.
    • Coordinate with internal teams, including the Biomanufacturing group, and external collaborators.
    • Complete project-specific tasks to help the team meet study milestones.

    What you'll need#

    • A strong interest in cardiovascular research, genetics, stem cell biology, or prospective clinical research.
    • Current enrollment as a medical student, ideally taking a gap year, or equivalent academic background in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health, or Health Administration.
    • Ability to commit to a one-year, part-time term.
    • No prior experience is required.
