About the role#
This internship provides graduate students in a Master of Social Work program with exposure to direct practice, quality improvement, and leadership development. You will work within the Children's Community Services Child Welfare program under the direction of a supervisor. You will perform child welfare tasks as you are trained and demonstrate competency.
What you'll do#
- Perform child welfare tasks based on your training.
- Engage in direct practice activities with families.
- Participate in quality improvement projects.
- Take part in leadership development activities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a certified MSW graduate degree program with good academic standing.
- Knowledge of child development stages, interviewing techniques, and case management, including fiscal resource management.
- Understanding of the issues families face within the child welfare system.
- Ability to work with diverse groups in a culturally competent manner and a willingness to engage families from various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, plus the ability to organize information systematically.
- Strong teamwork, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and personal liability insurance coverage.
- Ability to be insured by the Children's Wisconsin auto insurance carrier.
