About the role#
Code Ninjas in Shiloh is looking for a motivated instructor to join our team. You will serve as a Sensei, overseeing day-to-day coaching and student engagement for our after-school programs, weekend sessions, and summer camps. This role involves building problem-solving skills in children ages 5 to 14. We offer internship opportunities for students interested in small business operations, digital marketing, and IT.
What you'll do#
- Train on our provided curriculum and learn new technologies.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive space where students feel encouraged to explore coding and technology.
- Incorporate topics like robotics, Minecraft, Roblox, 3D printing, and AI into the learning experience.
- Provide feedback to parents regarding student progress.
- Handle daily opening and closing duties and maintain the cleanliness of the dojo.
- Report daily, weekly, and monthly to the Center Manager regarding student productivity, personal progress, and development opportunities.
- Maintain prompt and timely attendance for all scheduled shifts.
What you'll need#
- Previous experience working with children ages 5 and up, such as coaching, tutoring, or camp counseling.
- Ability to maintain order in a group setting and communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and motivate kids.
- A collaborative mindset when working with teammates and management.
- Interest in technology topics like robotics, Minecraft, and AI.
- Ability to pass a background check if you are 18 or older.
- Formal teaching experience, CPR certification, and First Aid knowledge are preferred but not required.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or Marketing.
Location & details#
- Location: Shiloh, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM; Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; and summer camps on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
- Term: Rolling.
