About the role#
This is a paid practicum position at the Cox Child Care Center South for Missouri State University Early Childhood students. You will work as a teacher to support the development of children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. This role requires on-site work and involves supporting lead teachers in a classroom setting.
What you'll do#
- Help maintain a safe and healthy environment for all children.
- Assist lead teachers in planning and carrying out academic and nonacademic activities.
- Support learning objectives for various age groups.
- Greet parents and children during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Manage daily tasks including diapering, potty training, and laundry.
- Clean tables, chairs, diapering areas, and toys.
- Stock supplies to prepare for the next day.
- Follow state, federal, and accreditation regulations, including maintaining required child-to-staff ratios.
What you'll need#
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of 6 college hours at an accredited institution or a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- Ability to obtain a MOA Educational Waiver before working alone with children.
- Must obtain Heartsaver Pediatric CPR/FA/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
- Completion of an initial T-Dap immunization, annual TB test, and health screening.
- Successful annual clearance from the Family Care Safety Registry.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of related experience and college coursework in early childhood education.
