About the role#
The Agronomy Intern works with our team to gain hands-on experience in potato farming operations. You will spend your time in the field, working on research projects and learning the daily technical aspects of our crop management.
What you'll do#
- Support the team with weekly pest scouting, tissue sampling, and irrigation scheduling.
- Collect data from R&D test plots and evaluate on-farm research.
- Assist with soil moisture management and irrigation systems.
- Gain experience in planning and executing pesticide programs.
- Observe field operations including planting and harvesting.
- Present a summary of your field observations and research findings to management.
- Exchange real-time feedback to support your professional growth.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, crop science, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one and pass insurance verification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to seek out constructive feedback.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Location & details#
- Location: Bliss, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 (Mid-May through Mid-August).
- Schedule: Typical hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional extra hours during peak times.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
