About the role#
The Agronomy Intern works with the CSS Farms team to learn hands-on skills in farm operations. You will gain exposure to all parts of our chip potato operation through field work, research projects, and educational opportunities. This is a paid, full-time summer internship.
What you'll do#
- Support the team with weekly pest scouting, tissue sampling, crop management, and irrigation scheduling.
- Collect data from R&D test plots and evaluate on-farm research.
- Assist with irrigation system scheduling and soil moisture management.
- Gain experience in pesticide programs and planning.
- Observe field operations, including potato planting and harvesting.
- Give and receive performance feedback to support your growth.
- Present a summary of your field scouting and research observations to management.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an Associates or Bachelor degree in agronomy, crop science, or a related field.
- A valid driver license or the ability to obtain one and pass insurance verification.
- Basic software skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Good communication skills, including a willingness to ask for and act on feedback.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 40-50 lbs, such as potato samples.
Location & details#
- Location: Pasco, Washington.
- Term: Summer 2027 (Mid-May through Mid-August).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Typical hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional extra hours during peak times.
