About the role#
This is a summer 2027 internship based in Lena, Illinois. You will work under the direction of location management to learn the foundations of the agronomy industry. The role focuses on hands-on field experience and operational projects to improve business efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Assist with general agronomy functions and facility maintenance.
- Operate equipment and technology for crop monitoring and field research.
- Apply crop nutrition and protection products.
- Visit FS locations and customers to build professional relationships.
- Gain experience with inventory control, ordering, and receiving.
- Participate in the Exploring Agriculture Internship Program, including an orientation meeting in May 2027.
- Submit weekly activity reports and complete an operational project.
- Follow company policies regarding safety, compliance, and conduct.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree or certification program at a university, technical college, or community college.
- Good academic standing.
- Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) and a commercial applicator's license.
- A valid driver's license, medical card, and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Comfort working in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Willingness to participate in all required training.
