About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. You will gain hands-on experience by working through Key Learning Experiences and collaborating with pharmacy leaders across the district.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and follow standard operating procedures.
- Fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately at various workstations including production, pick-up, and drive-thru.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions.
- Offer immunizations and other health services to patients.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Support vaccine administration and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market (preferred).
- One or more years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service (preferred).
- Ability to become immunization certified (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (preferred).
