About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will gain hands-on experience with pharmacy operations and store procedures. You will work as part of a team to ensure patients receive accurate and safe care while developing your clinical and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Assist with basic inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and stocking medication deliveries.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide patient health services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted.
- Maintain patient privacy and security while complying with all laws and ethical principles.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Demonstrate empathy and care in all patient and colleague interactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
- Willingness to become immunization certified.
- Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-resolution skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet business needs.
